If money isn't an option, I'd suggest a FreeNAS build & some WD red hard drives (you should be able to do it for under $1k):

https://blog.brianmoses.net/2017/12/diy-nas-econonas-2017.html

At least with this type of setup you will have some redundancy if anything were to fail.

Unfortunately, storing data is never cheap! but if you were to go the NAS route, at least all your storage would be consolidated in one spot, with some room to grow :D

Was going to mention a NAS box after but I forgot. This is what I meant for cloud:

http://au.pcmag.com/storage-devices-reviews/3696/guide/the-best-cloud-storage-and-file-sharing-services-of-2018

You would have to go paid for 1Tb+ though.

Looks like you won't get a NAS box with drives for under $1k. RAID 5 FTW though you could go RAID1 for cheap (I don't really know shit about RAID, there's probably something better by now).

Honestly, if the cloud storage price isn't unreasonable (and the vendor is established i.e. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Dropbox etc) I'd be inclined to go that way. Dump the files and let them worry about the backup.

Never take advice from random strangers on the internet though :)

Cloud baby, cloud. Gonna cost you monthly or yearly for the kind of data you have, but probably worth it from a redundancy point of view.

Your photog buddies might have a better suggestion.
