Gina was invited to the re-opening of Ananas, a French brasserie at The Rocks which is in the same building as the old Argyl (memories!). All the French classics were on the menu; we went for the Onion Soup, Duck, Steak Frites and most importantly, the Escargot (which I’ve not had since I was in Paris many many years ago!).

Awesome dinner last night at Yan Restaurant (always AMAZING!) with my BFAM Eugene, his sister Lisa and their kids which I’ve not seen in 12 years.

Haha I hate surprises, so what do the ZEN.CC cycling crew do? They spent the past few weeks organising a surprise B’Day dinner for me at Yan Restaurant.

Family, friends, fresh tattoo, smoked Peking Duck, red wine, good times!!!

You know, I know this steak doesn’t exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realise? Ignorance is bliss.

BFAM Christian and I are always on the hunt for the Matrix Steak, and welp, last night we found it. Bistecca is hidden away in a ratty side lane in Circular Quay. You then proceed underground into a dungeon that’s decorated like a vampire coven, then you’re guided into the dining room where there’s a coal pit and 2 dudes using huge hacksaws to cut up fat steaks.

They then take your phones away from you. No social media, no distractions. You better take someone you like as you’re going to have to talk to them all night. Then they point out the candle on your table is fat which you dip your bread into, then they come out and show you the cut of meat you’re about to eat, then you put the first piece into your mouth and holy shit. Best steak I’ve had in my entire life. Well played Bistecca.

Solid catch ups with Shaun and Leslie today at The Brothers Project Cafe. I went for their signature Brûlée french toast and Mocha cream coffee. I’m a cyclist now, it’s OK… I’ll burn it off!

Gina and I celebrated our 7th year friendship anniversary with an AMAAAAAZING dinner at YAN. Love this little one so much and so grateful to have her in my life.

So super proud of Narada Kudinar who back in the day ran Circuit Club track days and for the past 8 years has been running his amazing restaurant Yan. Think Chinese food, but all the meats are smoked (“yan” means smoke in Mandarin). Highly recommend the Peking Duck which was unlike any Peking Duck I’ve ever had (will 100% be back for more!).

Big day of awesome D&M’s with Gina yesterday. Been meaning to try out Mentmore & Morley Cafe. Did not disapoint! So many more cafes to try in my hood.

So much love and respect for these 3. Very happy to be able to call them good friends.
