I have an elderly 2405FPW hooked up to my new MacBook Pro 15″ (well it’s all works gear but anyway…) The only problem is that the MacBook won’t or can’t put the 2405 into sleep mode, so when the display goes to sleep on the MacBook, the 2405 just flashes “2: DVI-D Can not display this mode”.

Others have the same problem with this display + MacBook Pro. I got around it by having the mac go to sleep instead. It wakes up so quick you don’t even notice.

A more modern display (the 2405FPW is nearly 7 years old!) probably won’t have this problem.

i tried a different monitor to a mac 27″. just wasted money and time.
its not about price its about the quality of the screen and the colour

yep the dell is a contender… but it’s a dell.
next you’ll be driving a white commodore VL – yeah it’ll go as fast as the golf … but it’s still a commodore/dell

Or you just after bang for your buck? I’ve always been lured in by sales but everyone in the industry tells me if you’re after colour correction you need an Eizo or NEC monitor.

Unless you were looking specifically for a Thunderbolt display, the Dell is a pretty good buy for the pixel density.
