And in regards to working to pay the bills; it’s about compromise, and adjusting levels of it as I get older.

Only recently did I say no for the first time to doing a banner ad. I’ve been doing banner ads for what? 15 years?! It’s time to say no and when I said no to that job, fuck it felt so good!

I’ve done my ‘time’ when it comes to using my creative energy to better someone else’s business. I’m more focussed on putting my energy into my own brand from now onwards.

The hobby isn’t expensive either (all I use is a camera! No other gear needed!). I’ve been thrown thousands to do commercial shoots in the past 2 years and I’ve said no to every single job. Money ruins everything in my opinion. I don’t value money at all.

I wasn’t threatening to “give up” shooting. I’ll always enjoy taking photos to document my life, but shooting 3 girls a week (especially random girls who I don’t know) is what’s most likely going to change!

Seems like so many photographers are shooting for ‘fans’ and ‘likes’ vs paying bills. It never works out well.
