Fake iPhone

fake-iphone

Christina’s Dad came back from Hong Kong with this thing. It’s a fake iPhone called the “Phone” (lol). $100. It’s pretty scary.

ED Civic update

As you’ve read… I’ve been getting back into cars again lately. The ED Civic has been a lot of fun, it’s more like building a bicycle than a car. I’m much more hands on with it, less prescious about it too.

Today I stripped myu rocker cover with some acidic shit which burned my hands and feet.

rocker-cover
Super hot today out at JDMYard. Yonas egged me on over so I did, with the DIY King’s guidance all will be well.

paint-stripper
Yonas went at the rocker cover with spray-on paint stripper.

paint-peeling
The paint instantly started to bubble up.

hose
We hosed it off 15 minutes or so later.

scraping
But there was heaps of paint still on it. One can went a little too quick so we went at it with sponges and fine grade sandpaper, more paint stripper (brush on this time) and eventually a wire brush.

gasket-sealer
The gasket looked and felt fresh (soft) so we re-used it (my call… dodgey aye haha). Yonas applied some gasket sealant stuff which smelt pretty funky.

raw-valve-cover
I try to avoid saying it… but “That’ll do”.

engine-bay
Done. Raw goodness. Reminds me of my old MX-5’s engine cover.

sir
PS: Another eBay impulse buy. A genuine SiR badge, not sure if I’ll use it, or not, nice to have it though.

JDMyard wings logo

I’ve just finished designing this new occasional logo for JDMyard. The logo pays homage to Honda (primarily what JDMyard caters for). The Honda wings have been around since the 50’s and may have reflected Honda’s aspirations to build aircraft.

You can check out another occasional logo I designed for JDMyard here.

Random weekend shots

markets
I’ve been haunting the Kingsford Junk Markets for years now. I’ve figured out that the divine Egg and Bacon roll that the whippy van serves up is what brings me back every time.

mall
They’ve installed this huge LED screen at Bondi Junction mall. It spans 3 floors.

mall2
Animated advertisements EVERYWHERE. It’s so Blade Runner. The future is here.

Ghettofabulous!

I was in the ghetto today:

The side mouldings aren’t in the best of shape, the ones on the doors are really dull and faded but the black strip on the rear bar had completely faded to grey (I assume the rear bar has always been in the sun wherever the car was previously parked).

I already had sand paper, flexi primer and flat black paint but I had no newspaper, or drop sheets, so I just used Christmas catalogs from the mailbox instead (lol).

Done.

ED Civic update

MOMO Monte Carlo.

Simple, minimalist, perfect.

Visors (I like having the window down a little when it rains).

Front strut brace.

Rear strut brace.

The courier/post man came twice today (I love that man, lots). I’m expecting something nearly every day as I’ve been drinking wine and hitting the buy it now button on eBay a lot lately.

He brought me a 350mm MOMO Monte Carlo steering wheel (I’ve always wanted one of these), some visors and strut braces too.

The wheel is awesome. I love it, lots.
