Always happy to share process: I’ve finally got started on my piece for RISE EXHIBITION – I’m only a couple of hours in but it’s been amazing using charcoal from the burnt trees as a medium. All proceeds from the art works sold is going out to to charities supporting the firefighters, people that lost their homes & wildlife. #RiseExhibition #RiseAustralia

Happy Birthday Mum

As unattractive as it may seem to all the single ladies out there. I’m a proud mummies boy.

Many years ago I was with my long-term girlfriend when an old wise taxi driver asked me a trick question; who’s cooking is better? My girlfriends or my mums? I replied with the wrong answer. My Mums!

The bible states that you’re not meant to worship idols, but in truth my mum is my hero, she is my idol.

When she was young she rebelled against her parents wishes, and moved to Australia to start a new life. She inspired her sisters to move too. In fact she’s inspired so many of us to just be better people, just like her.

A couple of years ago life got the better of me and I hit rick bottom. Mum was there for me, every day, to help me pick up the pieces. Her love is truly unconditional love, she’s always accepted me for who I am, and has always supported me in what makes me happy.

I’m not religious, but I used to say that if everyone in this world respected the 10 commandments, then the world would probably be a better place. I now think that if everyone could be a little more like my mum, then the world would be a great place.

So please join me in raising your glasses. Here’s cheers to a great human being, my best friend, my mum.

So you may shoot me with your words
You may cut me with your eyes
And I’ll rise
I’ll rise
I’ll rise

Got delivery of a bag of burnt trees from the fires which I’ll (and all the other artists invited) use to make an artwork for RISE Exhibition. Really excited to be working with charcoal (it’s been a long while!). Really honoured to be a part of such an amazing show!

RISE EXHIBITION. An exhibition using charcoal from the trees burnt in bushfires as a medium to create the works. This is huge! I’m honoured and absolutely over the moon to have been invited to contribute!

Sloth mode

Just wanted to thank all my Patrons for the ongoing support.

Late last year I resigned from both my businesses. Despite both of them being creative ventures I’ve learned that design and corporate culture just isn’t for me anymore. Going forwards, art is where the heart is.

I’ve had a REALLY slow start to the year. Sloth mode for sure, but I’ve been shooting and organising new shoots. Just this week an American model who’s visiting Australia next month reached out to me for a shoot, and I’ve also been invited to join an all star cast of international artists to create an artwork for a show for the fires (we actually get to use charcoal from the burnt trees as our medium, more on this in the next post!).

What new years resolutions?!

I’ve been in absolute sloth mode this year. No motivation… AT ALL! Am I OK? Not really, but maybe that’s OK? I’ve caught up with some good people in the past few weeks, and it’s helped me understand and accept where I’m at right now. I’ll be sure to write something more substantial soon.
