Standard Functions

Who doesn’t love the freebies huh?! This screw top cup is made of sturdy and thick plastic. Very cool!

Complete Ruckus/Zoomer beauty bolt kit to replace all the ugly bolts.

I got an ATR lower seat frame which pushes the seat back a little more, it’s a little lower than the lowered frame I already had on the Zoomer but the main difference is the shortened rear “handle” which makes for a much cleaner look.

ATR low stance coilover – adjustable in height and rebound too.

Installed but the bottom stock bolt is a little short. I’ll be sure to source a longer one ASAP just to be safe.

ATR lowered seat frame installed + some beauty bolts to hold it down.

Some goodies came through today from the dudes over at Standard Functions in South El Monte, California. I almost didn’t get the stuff as the post guy wrote the wrong street number down and the delivery slip went next door! Luckily I get along nice with my neighbors!

I came across Standard Functions when I was searching for Ruckus culture over in the US. It seems like these well respected guys rep the Ruckus hard at all the big meets out there. They run a cool blog too in which they come across as good guys with big hearts that do good things outside of modifying and selling Ruckus goods.

Groomzilla

I’ve been caught up in the whirlwind of wedding planning, and it’s been getting the better of me. I figure I might as well fight for what I want now, whilst it’s still early, but I’ve been coming up against brick walls. I’ve never been a conformist. I’ve always liked doing things my way and I’ve always tried hard to be a little different from everyone else (despite understanding that in doing so I’m just like everybody else who’s trying hard to be different!).

As the Groom I get to choose my suit, cars and music. Excitement comes before reality. I’m me right? I couldn’t help but be inspired by Kanye West’s red suit with matching red leather sneakers for my wedding. IE: The idea of wearing a black suit, white shirt and black tie NEVER crossed my mind. And as for the cars, despite Christina dropping hints that she’d love an old vintage car in white I refused to go there. What do cars of the 40’s and 50’s have to do with my upbringing? With my life? Nothing. I’m a car guy and choosing the cars was my part of the job and I intended to have fun with it. Maybe some pimp black current model S Class mercs, or better yet current model Bentley Continentals, or what about a Porsche Panamera or a couple of white R35 GTR’s? And the music? My day, my music. Suggestions of a live band were quickly binned. Wedding singer at my wedding? Unless it’s Jeff Buckley himself, no thanks. Jazz band? Again, what has Jazz got to do with me?! What about music which I love? Gunners, Nirvana, Faith No More…

So I’m feeling pretty defeated. Every single suggestion I’ve made has been met with blank faces which add to my frustrations. Where’s the trust huh?! It’s killing the motivation and excitement before I’ve even had a chance to get obsessive compulsive about the wedding. Those who know me well know that the best of me comes out when I get obsessive compulsive about something, where I can give something my all.

Holy shit I’ve even been contemplating that my whole life has been about rebelling against something, or someone that doesn’t even exist? Who am I trying to impress?!

Breathe.

OK so I’ve got to adapt, and I fuuuucking hate to say this word, but I have to compromise. I’ve got to let go, think about Christina and everybody else (and not just myself) and most of all I have to believe that everything will be beautiful and wonderful on the day.

/vent.

Aquarium update

FTS February 2011.

Crazy growth everywhere, check this piece growing onto the glass.

A few weeks ago a small hydroponic fan I had running on the tank to bring the temperature down a couple of degrees blew up. Luckily I was in front of the tank at the time as it went up in flames! Lesson learned: Salt water + electrical fans = danger! Without this fan, and with the weather being as hot as it’s been my tank temperature has gone up from it’s usual 27degrees to an average of 29.4degrees and it even hit 30 the other day. All my corals should be dead, but they’re hanging in there just fine. I’ve resorted to turning on the air-con from morning until later afternoon every day. I’d really like to know how much this is costing me. I suppose I’ll find out when I get the next electricity bill!

Scrapey scrapey!

Der Rieger!

Yeah how fat is that lip!

I’ve finally sourced this Rieger lip for my MKV Golf (was 40% off!). It’s very very deep and I’ll be scraping the shit out of it on everything out there, but hey, it’s going to look damn aggressive! I can’t wait to fit it up.

Chinese New Years

Chloe.

Damien.

Had a traditional Chinese New Years with the Locks yesterday. They’ve been having the celebration at the same house (one of their relo’s houses) for years. Seeing little Chloe and Damien running around reminded Christina and Jess of when they used to do the same when they were little.
