Fuel 4 Charity

f4c

Organising a charity event is something that VWGolf.net.au moderators myself, Christina Lock, Jose Togle and Marco Contreras have wanted to do for some time.

2 nights ago we had a meeting with Sergio Capozzi from ALL STARS and after much discussion plans have been put into action.

Rather than organising one single event, we’ve decided to set up an umbrella organisation with a view to do multiple events in the year, all for different charity foundations.

We’re excited!

Our first event will be a car show where all the proceeds raised from owners of the cars on show, traders who will be invited to run stands and spectators will be donated to The Leukaemia Foundation.

Our first event will kick off in June 2013.

Please like our page and spread the news (much appreciated). Also, please get in touch if you’d like to get involved, we need all the help we can get!

Yokohama 86 livery

eastonchang_86
Those of you at Top Gear Festival last weekend would have seen this 86 at the ADVAN Yokohama stand. I’m proud to say that I designed the graphics for it. Photo by the amazing Easton Chang.

Students Guide To Digital Design

Last night’s Students Guide To Digital Design event featuring industry pros John Butterworth, CEO of AIMIA, Jon Christensen co-founder from Tractor Design School, and creative directors Ash Ringrose and Brad Eldridge from Soap Creative went down a treat last night at the Apple Store Sydney.

The panel gave the many students in attendance (so many more than we expected that Apple staff scurried to get more chairs out!) tips and tricks on how to get ahead in the digital design industry. They also praised the students in attendance for being there, and standing out from all the other students who, for whatever reason, didn’t show (you’ve got to be in it to win it!).

We’re heading to QLD!

Yup, it’s going to be EPIC. Road Trip, holiday beach house, mates and a massive ALL STARS car show.

PS: That’s the wonderful Jay in the photo, shot today over the bridge by Alain from BLOW&TREES. She’s one of our bikini car wash girls at this weekend’s ALL STARS event at Eastern Creek. Here’s a photo of her in the office today (geez I love my job!).

ALL STARS Tattoo

For reals?!

Some guys are just nuts. For jokes, this guy tattooed the ALL STARS logo freehand on a mate’s leg at home, ghetto styles… so bad but so damn good!

PS: I’ve just launched the new ALL STARS web site. Have used the same theme as Zen Garage. Will be making more tweaks to it as I go along (the best way to mod!). Visit: http://sydneyallstars.com

Business Cards – The Distillery

The Distillery on Crown St. Well worth a visit even if you’re not getting anything printed! It’s like a museum!

Adam was a super friendly and helpful staffer.

Lots of antique stuff to gawk at, these guys are the real deal.

Presses. They look damn dangerous to operate!

My little doggy bag of goodness!!!

My new cards. They’re so thick I can only fit 2 in my card holder.

Letterpressing – when you absolutely, positively have to be boss. Not cheap (my cards are worth a few dollars each card) but so worth it. Visit: http://www.the-distillery.com.au

Adobe Creative Cloud

Whatever you like.

Zann, Damien and I now have access to Adobe Creative Cloud where we can upload files to share between us, and better yet download anything and everything Adobe has to offer. I leave for Taiwan (Zi’s wedding) in a few hours but I’m excited to play with Lightroom, and new 3D tools in Photoshop too. GEEK OUT!

Field Trip wrap-up

New mixed in with old, texture and technology. The Seymour was a fantastic venue for Sydney Field Trip.

These lovely pressed coasters from MailChimp were individually numbered and free for all ticket holders.

We had a few leftover posters to give away too from Digitalpress.

I’m sure if you were a speaker you’d freak out a little seeing so many monkeys in the audience!

Every seat got a Field Trip tote bag, every tote bag had a Rhodia pad and Sharpies. Having a full house of creatives meant for some doodling action!

The audience settling in.

Our VIP’s were treated with love.

The audience.

Paper master Benja Harney first got everyone involved in a simple paper exercise, then wowed the audience with some very technical paper work.

Flutter killed it, and blew minds by delving deep into the process of an Xmas video installation piece for Melbourne’s Crown Casino.

Anthony Calvert made the audience giggle with some funny insights into his infographic illustrator work.

Gemma O’Brien’s infectious energy was felt by everyone present. To make her feel ‘at home’ she  re-created a part of her office space on the stage and wowed everyone by creating typographical piece from start to end.

Ex airbrush artist (now digital) Nigel Buchanan had the crowd in stitches with a live illustration of Jeremy Wortsman of The Jacky Winter Group.

Twin sister outfit MaricorMaricar were so cute and won the crowd over with their intricate embroidery work.

Illusionist Fraser Shiers gave the audience a very in depth technical insight into 3D realism.

Last Friday I spent the entire day at Field Trip Creative Conference at the Seymour Centre in Sydney. Being the founder of Australian Infront (1999), it’s been in the planning for months, and is a joint venture between Aus Infront (myself, Damien Aistrope and Zann St Pierre) and The Jacky Winter Group from Melbourne.

The last Field Trip was held at Fed Square in Melbourne (and was a sell out event!), with that under our belts we spuced up the formula for the Sydney show and it went down an absolute treat!

Photographers on the day were Jason De and Aleks Brajic, names which you’re probably familiar with from the automotive community (well done lads!).

Field Trip

VIP arm bands.

9AM registration.

Beautiful Pages gave this frames print up as a giveaway on the day.

The audience filing in for the intro.

Nigel Buchanan blew everyone away with a live portrait of Jeremy Wortsman of The Jacky Winter Group.

Nanami was sketching away as usual!

Jason and Aleks were the official photographers of the day and they got right in there. I’m sure their coverage will be awesome.

So Field Trip was fucking awesome! No technical issues, the speakers were AMAZING and the vibe was electric all day. So much to take in, stocked up on enough inspiration to last me months! I’m exhausted, our team deserves a massive congrats for all the hard work. Official photos will be up soon!
