Australian INfront VR04 ‘Future’: End Of Year Exhibition/Party

Roller in Surry Hills.

The sponsors who made this event happen.

Boxes and boxes full of Asahi!

Welcome back to Sydney Damien! – At some point Damien (who’s just moved back to Sydney from Cairns) and I had to run out to get some art supplies, loads of ice and plastic cup for wine. Unfortunately he got done by the parking police.

I put a bit more effort into cutting up 1st and 2nd place, felt lilke I was in design school again!

Love this one. Zann and Miles did a great job hanging the top 20 Visual Response FUTURE entries.

The winning entry. Great from a distance but amazing up close. I’ve love to get this guy to do our wedding invites!

The gallery.

The turnout.

The new Australian INfront; Zann, Damien and I. Would never have happened without these guys. Me so proud :)

I’d been smashing Asahi’s since setting up at about lunch time and was feeling pretty lose by early afternoon. Slightly foggy today but had a blast at the INfront do last night. Some of the OG were there, so cool to catch up with them and I met a lot of new people too. All in all it was a great success! The top 20 Visual Response entries were fantastic, the beer was cold, the tunes were awesome. Great crowd, great vibe.

PS: Much better pictures from the night here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=37944&id=126268997417461#!/album.php?aid=37944&id=126268997417461

Back to Mac

So I got the call from Jing today and it looks like my PC is officially dead. He’s going to be able to backup my files, which is cool but the PC itself needs a new motherboard and I’m not sure I want to dick around with that.

I’m going to miss that PC. It went hard for 3 years without any problems (well the video card did die under warranty but that was an easy fix).

I’m currently working on Christina’s old Mac Pro and whilst buying more ram for it is tempting (it’s only got 1gb of ram) I’m thinking that it’s not worth the time and hassle as it’s an old computer (2006).

A new iMac with decent options (8gb ram, upgraded i7 chip, 2TB drive and 3yr warranty) costs $3500.

For that money Jing could build me a PC twice as powerful and with 2x30inch monitors too.

In the end I ‘ve gone with the iMac. I just hit that buy now button (I suppose I’ll cry about it later). I’ll miss my dual monitor set-up but hey I’m already liking this mac keyboard (it’s the non-wireless one with the numerical keypad, much nicer to use that the thin wireless one that comes with the new iMac). I’ll be sure to bring my Microsoft Intellipoint mouse across too as I’m addicted to using the multiple buttons on it.

Velovixens!

A while back Grant from MC Cyclery (that’s his girl Miki 2nd from the left) put me on to his mate Christian who I’ve done some web work for. Christian needed some web tweaks and I spotted this shot on his site yesterday. 4 Sydney girls +his summer gear +a bike = so much win!

Ordinary Extraordinary – Quiet Achievements & Heroic Feats

I’ve been working on this project with Caryn Gillespie for the past few weeks. Caryn and I used to do a lot of pro-bono work together (I always saw it as stocking up on good Karma!). It’s been a while since we’ve worked on something together and when she called me up with this idea I was sold straight away.

The project is called “Ordinary Extraordinary”. The concept is simple; to feature every day people who are doing extraordinary things. One photo and one person’s acknowledgement. Initially Ordinary Extraordinary will be a gallery event up north but it will continue on as it’s own project online.

Here’s the call out (please pass this on!):

Do you know anyone extraordinary? Is there someone you would like to acknowledge? This is your opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge people who make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

Quiet achievements and heroic feats equally welcome!

LELO Pleasure Objects

My eBay light tent. It rocks.

Being the editor of Sex in Art has it’s perks (well kinda as these goods aren’t going anywhere near my butt!). LELO have invited a select list of bloggers and reviewers from around the world to review new LELO Pleasure Objects from their brand new INSIGNIA line (which hasn’t even been officially launched) and Sex in Art was one of the blogs chosen.

Think classy dildos, very classy.

I received 2 of them in the mail today. The design, branding and packaging is 2nd to none and opening the boxes feels like opening a gift from Louis Vuitton.

I’ve got a couple of Christina’s friends to do the reviewing (names are going to be withheld for now!). More on LELO here.

DRESS2LOVE

I’ve been working on this new job lately. It’s hard for me these days to get excited about work. I’m over it and so I choose to only work on things I actually genuinely have an interest in. I initially did something very quick and quite nasty as it was a pro-bono job for a friend’s wife but after actually checking out the goods in her shop (I think the stuff is nice!), and seeing that she really did go all out with adding all her products to her shop herself (I just gave her a WordPress install + WordPress shop) I thought I’d re-visit the job and put more effort into it.

So I ripped down the old site, got in the zone with style sheets, created a new logo, deleted all the Engrish from the About Us section and re-wrote something punchy and short “for now”. I’ve yet to get busy helping her get it out there but I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve.

Anyways, check it out: http://dress2love.com.au

Like most of my work, it’s a work in progress. I love working on sites as I go (as opposed to trying to make them perfect before launch). If you have any suggestions on how I can get this fashion business out there, please let me know. I’d appreciate it.
