Sunrise to Sunset

I’m really happy with the way I’ve set up my LED lights and industrial timers. I’ve got control over 9 rows of lights in total and I can set any combination I like so I’ve got something like this:

Morning
– 1 white light in the middle
– 3 white lights left middle and right
– 3 white and 3 blue lights left middle and right
– 6 whites and 3 blue lights left middle and right
– 3 white and 3 blue lights left middle and right
– 3 blue lights left middle and right and one middle white light
– 1 blue light in the middle

Hard to describe! But basically I’m trying to emulate a sunrise and sunset throughout 10 hours. See photos below for 2 shots, one at 4pm, the one after at 9pm.

4pm.

9pm.

BBQ!

Our new BBQ.

Yeah it’s a crap $129 job from Bunnings. I wanted to buy this everdure BBQ, more than twice the price but it looks sturdy and really easy to clean (and potentially easier to keep clean). Christina had some doubts about it though so in the end we went with the Jumbuck. Putting it together it was evident how crap it was, the screws are going to rust overnight, some of the heads on the bolts weren’t even welded on straight! Hopefully the weather’s going to be awesome tomorrow so we can put it to work. Despite the shitty BBQ I’m sure the food’s going to taste great!

Fratelli Fresh

Christina and I left a package in Nath’s car during Pizza night the other night and he kindly came over today to drop it off. There was another reason why he came over though, he wanted to show this off:

I heard him before he knocked on the door!

Made in Slovenia. It’s an Akrapovic exhaust. I just checked out their site, different!

Nath hadn’t had brekkie and Christina and I hadn’t had lunch so we thought we’d eat at Fratelli Fresh

Strange stuff: They had an entire wall dedicated to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Oils ain’t oils!

I had the meatball pasta. OMG too good. TOO GOOD! I’ve been on a high ever since. So so happy. So happy.

Catch-ups

Sean and Liz. 2 great mates that go way back!

Last night I caught up with Sean and Liz for dinner and beers at The Clock in Surry Hills. I caught up with Liz not too long ago, she’s going through some major changes (great ones!), but I hadn’t caught up with Sean in ages. With all good mates though, it always seems to feel like you can start where you left off and the three of us catching up felt like old times.

VWG Pizza Night

VWG Pizza night last night at Made in Italy. Small group of 9 but a lot of fun :)

Pre-dinner beers at The Gaelic Club.

Frenchie’s R36 wagon. Looking so good.

Wagon Mafia!

Polo pizza was great.

Nutella Pizza!

Nath took us in and AP took us home in his 500HP R32 turbo monster (which was surprisingly smooth).

Reef Chemistry

I got a lot of goodies in the mail yesterday and had so much fun putting it all together (in the zone!).

Bubble Magus BM-T01 Dosing pump + accessories. The dosing pump has a micro-computer in it and it’ll allow me to automatically dose the correct amount of Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium to the tank in order to keep my levels correct for keeping acropora corals (the pinnacle of reef keeping!).

My weenie bike parts scale is actually being used for it’s intended use! Instead of using brand name aquarium products, for Calcium I’m using Damprid. For Alkalinity I’m using Bi-Carb Soda and for Magnesium I’m using Epsom Salts, all of which I sourced for 1/5th the price of branded goods from the local Coles.

Containers for Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium.

Computer all dialled in and ready to go.

Hoses in position on the sump.

The engine room (I’ve also installed a carbon reactor which is a lot more efficient than putting a bag of carbon in the sump).

Oh yeah Boston Beans with Pork Sausages and a poached egg @ Deus.

Honda Zoomer. Still $4k. Still want it.

Go-Go-Gadget

Ph meter lets me check the Ph at a glance. One less water test I have to do = a good thing!

2 little nano-mags placed permanently on the top braces allow me to clean the glass easily (so salt creep doesn’t block the lights!).

Geeking out, hard.

Melb vs Syd

Sandra and Terence.

Last night Christina and I caught up with Melbournians Terence (we know him through the VWGolf.net.au forums) and his girl Sandra (who was in town doing work experience for Marie Claire). We had dinner at Kelly’s, which is always hit and miss. Unfortunately the food was a miss tonight but the company rocked out so much I wasn’t fussed! So good to meet genuinely good people.

Mia

Mia’s 4.5months old now. We’ve let her into the bedroom over the past few weeks and she’s not peed on the bed again (she did twice when we first got her). Last night we decided to not lock her up in her kitty room and she ended up hanging out in our bed, purring her head off for hours at a time, walking all over our faces and finally settling in and sleeping in between us. Yay!
