FS: 1997 Specialized Hardrock

For sale.

In an vain attempt to make more room in the man cave I’ve decided (after many years of deliberation!) to sell off my 1997 Specialized Hardrock. It’s the bike that got me back into riding and it single-handedly got me into tinkering with bikes. I’ve put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this bike, can’t say I’m after a lot of money for it either, it’s more about making room and also selling it to someone who’s actually going to ride the thing! If you’re keen, or know someone who is keen, let me know!

PS: Build thread can be found here.

MC Cyclery

New MC Cyclery web site.

When I met Grant from MC Cyclery a couple of years ago I’d just missed out on the opportunity to re-design his web site for him. It turns out he’d already asked Damien and Zann to design his site, all good as both Damien and Zann are my Australian INfront business partners (small world!).

A couple of days ago I was asked to re-design the site, to make it clean and simple in order to not alienate everyday customers. It’s a new direction which Grant is taking the bike shop. Where we were once gunning for everything rad and gnarly we’re now focussing back on “suburban bike shop”.

Current site: http://www.mccyclery.com.au
My new site: http://www.mccyclery.com.au/blog/

Yes it’s built in WordPress, yes you can see it’s using the same theme that I’m using on this very blog. Clean, simple, flexible and most of all easily up-datable. It’s a work in progress but it’s pretty much ready to go live any day now.

GT-R all set for this months JDMST EOMM

Squeeky clean.

Despite a booked out schedule Dave from Reflect Effect came out today to detail the GT-R in preparation for this weekend’s JDMST EOMM. It’ll be the first time I take the GT-R to a meet in years. After the detail I couldn’t help but go for a drive… what a car. I’m so chuffed it’s mine!

chingchai’s tank

chingchai’s tank.

Yerp I’ve been going a little aquarium crazy lately and I’m spending a couple of hours a day reading through tank journals. If I had a tank as amazing as this I doubt I’d ever watch TV again. High res version here.

Top One Automotive

New Top One Automotive web site holder.

I’m always happy to do design work for passion related stuff and I’ve offered my help to Dedy from Top One Automotive for years now. He always told me he had someone working on the site and being the nice guy he is he didn’t want to stuff relations up with the guy who was working on it.

Well the site went live not too long ago and I almost fell off my chair when I saw it (you can check it out here: http://toponeauto.com.au/oldsite/).

Yeah……….. so I pleaded with him to let me take the site down and put a one page site there instead. 1 page sites rock out in my opinion. No confusion, clear contact details, done. A simple business card online.

Aquarium light stand

In preparation for the LED units I’ve ordered I set out to build a simple light stand to hang them on. I spent 2 hours in Bunnings last weekend (I heart Bunnings). I could have simply gone for 3 brackets to bolt into the wall or a connect-it style rack which would stand on top of the tank but instead I’ve tried to create something a little more minimalist.

The materials.

The stand (the current light on top of the tank will piss off and I’m hoping the hanging lights will look a lot cleaner).

Detail of how the light stand connects to the tank stand.

I used a simple “L” bracket to join the square tubing.

I also replaced the door knobs.

It’s pretty sturdy thanks to the thickness of the tubing. It’ll have to hold about 15kg and should do so no worries. I’ve always hated the tank stand and I’ll have to look into stripping it one day and making new minimalist doors for it.

Alan – cat perch.

Carmen & Mia.

Alan and Carmen came around on Sunday to talk aquariums (they’re setting up a 6ft marine!) but we ended up playing with Mia and eating ice cream instead (haha).

Poor Peppa

Poor Peppa had a cyst removed from her shoulder. Jess had the entire process on film too (nasty!).

Spoilt Rotten

Expensive taste at such an early age.

We’ve got so many cat toys for Mia but she refuses to play with any of them! Instead she goes absolutely ape over this pink Jimmy Choo bag (which her toys came in funnily enough!). She’ll chase it, slide on it, tackle it, jump in it and attack it (kangaroo kicks!). Her other fave toys include a fat rubber band and a zip tie!

Mia Meow

Jarod and Sanja have requested more Mia photos! We’re more than happy to provide!

OMG look at your face. You’re such a pretty girl!

When Mia’s out (quite often) she’s completely out. She’s so floppy you can pretty much do anything you like with her and she won’t wake up!

Little Mia paw.

She’s such a good lap cat and still doesn’t like being on her own.

Out again, feet up this time!
