Isla Fae is in town!

IMG_0879
The lovely Isla Fae is staying with me for a couple of nights!

Isla and I spent the entire day out yesterday shooting in and around Botany Bay.

PS: They’ve fenced off ALL of the war bunkers! I’m SO glad I got to shoot in them without all the ugly fencing.

Growing Grounds Australia

I want it all.

One of these is mine (I’ll post pics of my haul tomorrow!).

A little while back I stumbled upon a YouTuber who goes by Sydney Plant Guy. He has some awesome indoor plants with HUGE leaves. I was curious to know whether he ever sells his plants, or cuttings, and in one video he mentioned that he does at a place called Growing Grounds.

I then found a video of him visiting Growing Grounds and interviewing the owner AJ. I checked out the Growing Grounds web site and pulled the trigger on 3 plants for my cabinet. I chose to pick up the plants (so I could check out the shop!), turns out the shop is where AJ lives, and she’s converted the long driveway into her garage into a greenhouse, which was AMAZING!

AJ was awesome, super chatty and helpful. Loved her energy. Turns Alex, the owner of More Plants down the road from my new apartment, is one of AJ’s best friends! It’s all making sense! Everything is fitting in nicely! It looks like I’m in great hands.

Blessings

I had a good friend of my mum’s over to bless the entire apartment of negative energy.

We then went for lunch at Ippuku. Finally got around to trying their ramen, it was delicious!

IKEA Rudsta Greenhouse Project

Update on my IKEA greenhouse project. I got 6 magnetic spice racks to hold 4″ plant pots. They fit and line up pretty nice!

Apartment update

floorboards
The floorboards came out really nice. I was worried they would look too different to the flooring in the rest of the apartment (the much darker flooring) so I got the guys to lay down the planks in the other direction to make it look more like a deliberate choice that I have different floorboards in the 3 bedrooms.

I decided to only rip off the ugly wardrobe doors on the first one you can see from the hallway. I’ll leave the rest of the ugly doors for now.

secretcatlitter
I found this cute (and huge) secret cat litter box online.

Hope Mia likes the upgrade!

dyson
Still not sure what to do with the huge gap on the side of the fridge. Putting the Dyson there for now.

Iblackfittingsshower
All black erythang! I love all the black fittings throughout the apartment.

Had Strata call me today. They said the neighbour below me complained about the noise yesterday (when the guys were installing the floors). When I told them I was putting in floorboards the guy spat the dummy and said I needed Strata approval for that. Well fuck… I’ve been living in a house for 17 years. I had no idea!

Strata then asked me if I had used underlay (I hadn’t), and if I hadn’t I’d have to rip up all up and put underlay down to prevent people underneath me from hearing my footsteps (as if you’d be able to hear my footsteps through the concrete floors!). I outright refused, and suggested that we go step by step. IE: Why not wait and see if they complain about hearing my footsteps BEFORE I have to rip up the floorboards?! End of the day I called the flooring company and they confirmed that the flooring I chose has underlay built into it, and wouldn’t work with additional underlay. Strata seemed AOK about this, crisis avoided!
