Lost my GF1 last night :(

I can’t remember the last time I’ve lost something. Lost my wallet, keys too a few times when I was in high school, that was enough to teach me to always look around the table for stuff before I get up and go, but last night I lost my Panasonic Lumix GF1 camera.

I was out catching up with old mates. We ended up at Sean’s place and on the way out I left my jacket in his apartment so I had to go back up to get it (I think this was already a sign ahaha), we then walked from Broadway to Central to grab some McDonalds (as you do when you’re wasted) and after that we hopped in a cab home. A few minutes into the ride home I realised I’d lost the camera. Christina suggested we go back to get it, but I was pretty sure it would be gone for good. The cabbie urged me to call McDonalds and after some failed attempts I finally got through, camera wasn’t there though (of-course).

No-one to blame but myself. It definitely wasn’t on the table. I took the water home instead of the camera! It must have been on the bench next to me. There are a few really nice shots on there which I’m a bit sad to lose. Some shots from Wagaya the other night, new footage of Mia going nuts with a catnip toy, sunnies hunting with a mate Ben (who ended up with some hella pimp Armani’s!), a great accidental shot of Suga whilst she was placing a VWGolf card on a car windscreen last night and shots of Liz and Tab from last night’s catchup.

I’m sure the person who found the camera’s going to absolutely love the GF1, you never know, they might even get into photography because it’s so good!

Where to from here? I’ve been reading up on the new GF2 and everything I’m reading sounds crap. Funnily I had a random last night stop me mid conversation to ask if I had the GF1 or the GF2…when I told him it was a GF1 he gave me the thumbs up, very strange. The GF2 doesn’t come with the nice 20mm pancake lens which is what makes the GF1 so nice. I might consider a GF1 again, they’re cheaper now than when I bought mine (about $1k before and about $700 or so now at some places).

Bowls LA

The boys at Bowls chucked in a whole lotta stickers and also a couple of license plate frames. Unfortunately the plate frames don’t quite fit our NSW plates but the holes lined up perfectly with the holes around my radiator so I’ve bolted one down just for the fun of it. :)

Zoomania frame caps replace the ugly chrome caps I had on there before.

I’ve been haunting the Bowls LA site for ages, especially since getting the Zoomer. Unfortunately for me they’ve run out of most of their Zoomer gear but they had some Japanese Zoomania end caps I really wanted. Over the last month or so I’ve been re-visiting their online shop, adding goodies to the cart, but not going ahead with the orders…until a few weeks ago :)

I’m not one to wear fashion brands. 80% of the T’s I wear are my own designs (haha) but this time I bought a few goodies to wear. The Hundreds wallet was the first thing I’ve put to good use. It’s huge, has a zip all around it and has a massive coin pocket. I can’t stand how those super exxy brand name wallets don’t have coin pockets (in my opinion there is no such thing as “spare” change!). I’ve also bought a watch. I’ve not worn a watch since buying a mobile phone many many years ago but I’m liking the idea of wearing a watch again, it’s so comfy I’ve already forgotten I’m wearing it. The Hundreds sunnies came very nicely packaged. On their own they look cool, on my face they feel amazing but they don’t suit me that well (hard part about buying fashion stuff online huh?).

Aquarium Update

Salty tank is doing great. Very stable and all corals are growing nicely. My forum thread got bumped up so I thought I’d take a few pics when the T5 lights came on just a few minutes ago.

VWGolf.net.au Cruise to Robertson

Like last year’s cruise. Suga went all out again with printing out directions for those who needed them.

Group shot at Loftus before departure.

Golfs in front, golfs behind! It’s all good!

Re-group.

Twisties.

Our destination.

And of-course the pies!

Sponsors donated freebies were handed out.

And then some massive prizes to the tune of well over $6000 were handed out in our epic raffle.

Happy crowd.

A beer stop on the way home.

Not enough chairs? No worries, keg stools!

Kev on the go.

Highway back into Sydney.

Huge yearly VWGolf.net.au Cruise yesterday from Loftus to Robertson pies in Robertson (I counted over 50 cars). Perfect weather and thanks to Christina’s organisational skills everything went super smooth. One of the highlights for everyone was perhaps the massive raffle at the end of the cruise with over $6000 of prizes up for grabs thanks to our forum sponsors! Next year we’ll definitely do a cruise for charity.

Shot with the GoPro and whipped up in iMovie (never used iMovie before, nice and easy I’m impressed).

Taste of Sydney

Clouds looked ready to dump rain but luckily for us the rain never came.

$30 entry. As you can see on Ben’s face, there was a little confusion as to whether this got us any crowns (coupons for food) or not.

Ben snapping food shots, most likely to post on his blog too!

I brought the gopro today, just because. Not the best camera for snapping food.

Getting there early (5.30PM) meant that we had no queues and also this cozy little table out of the sun.

We went last year and after deciding I didn’t feel so hung over today we thought we’d do it again this year. Wasn’t as amazing as last year but it was still great and we made some good choices too.

Garthy’s B’day

B’day boy. Here’s to women!

1 litre beer goggles.

Her Dad’s a Leo.

Willy and Kay.

Zi & Steve. Steve was meant to be our lift home, but we found him passed out in his Mums car in Chinatown! He woke up at 5AM apparently haha.

Val (Garth’s other half) did a great job organising the party.

Val’s sister Spike + her guy Allan.

The thinkers.

Garth posing with the Asian table haha.

Garth had his 28th last night, was a surprise party too! Val did well in keeping it a secret! Got home at 4AM this morning (thanks to Papz for the lift!). Beers, Karaoke, salt and pepper squid at 3AM. Turned out to be a bender.

Loftus night ride

My Reign. That noisy Hope hub, the crazy wide bars, grippy flat pedals and joplin seatpost. Love it.

Ash’s 29’er. We spotted another guy smashing it on one during the ride too. In fact everyone we spotted in the carpark had Giants!

Ash.

Andy.

Mel.

Went for a night ride at Loftus last night. First mountain bike ride since Canberra for me, when was that? 2 years ago?! Last minute notice for me. Ayups charged up to full in an hour which was impressive. I hadn’t cleaned the Reign since the Canberra trip. I pumped my tyres up and all that dried up Canberra mud went all over my floors haha.

Was a warm night. Dry air and plenty of great fresh bush smells, heaps of friendly riders out on the trail, heaps of fat hairy spiders too! Despite being a little unfit and slow I had an absolute blast. Especially had fun on everything pointing downwards (as usual) and still made it up that shitty hill no worries. Love the Reign, so much. I made a crazy choice to sell my Anthem and keep the much older 2006 Reign but it’s just hands down the best bike I’ve ever owned (so far!).
