My GT-R on Speedhunters

Charles has featured my GT-R on Speedhunters today. Speedhunters is arguably the biggest Automotive Culture blog out there at the moment so I’m very honored! What’s kinda freaky is how much Charles knows about the car, and the build. He’s even mentioned a few details that I myself have forgotten! And the phone call he mentions in the article sent chills down my spine…yes I once almost thought about letting the car go, and in a very desperate moment one night I called Charles up for his advice. I owe him many many thanks for setting me straight!

My MKV GTI

People are hating the snow plow like lip. I’m loving the hatin’. Just my intention haha!

Suga and I on the left there.

Pics from today’s meet by jdm_kid, a member on JDMST – nice to have some proper pics of my car (man this guys lens rocks! So nice!).

JDMST EOMM February 2011

Fresh paint AND glow in the dark wheels!

Worked Civic.

Mavis St. Cafe guys. Feeding the masses.

John from go2space rocked up with heaps of Castrol goodies to give away in a raffle.

Castrol shirts, jackets, fluids and stickers up for grabs!

Kudos to John and the girls for standing under the bitey sun for so long (there were so many prizes to hand out!).

On the way home. Always nice to see the plane’s go overhead.

Hot day out! I had all intentions to bring the GT-R out to this months JDMST End Of Month Meet, but after feeling how hot it was by the beach I figured it would be 10 degrees hotter out west, wimped out (no-aircon) and took the GTI instead! Great to meet some new people this time around, awesome catching up with some of the usual suspects too (not enough time if anything).

LOTS of photographers out today so be sure to check out this thread on JDMST for heaps more photos.

Scrapey scrapey!

Der Rieger!

Yeah how fat is that lip!

I’ve finally sourced this Rieger lip for my MKV Golf (was 40% off!). It’s very very deep and I’ll be scraping the shit out of it on everything out there, but hey, it’s going to look damn aggressive! I can’t wait to fit it up.

Nads

Nads coming up the escalator to Kinokuniya/Ichi ban boshi.

A couple of mags I bought from Kino.

Yup S2K’s are low, here’s Nads trying not to scrape his front bar by going right before turning left haha.

Spotted Grant’s XS600 at MCC on my way home (I had to pick up a bike box to pack and send Ti).

Caught up with my mate Narada today, been ages. Turns out we’re both kinda in the same boat. Both getting married at the end of this year and both kinda looking for something new. I love that our catch-ups are always constructive. He gave me heaps of insight into the way he’s been running his business, fresh ideas, definitely food for thought.

We’re gonna be on TV part 2

Our R32’s.

Christina’s interview.

Andy and Herman shooting the GT-R.

Lumix in video mode mounted outside my GT-R.

Yesterday we finished off the 2nd day of shooting with Herman and Andy. They came over at 10am and already the sun was bitey. It turned out to be the hottest day so ever and being under the sun from 10am-5pm took it’s toll on Herman’s face which was ridiculously burnt. I also lost about 5kg in sweat as the GT-R has no air-con, nor any lining so I was basically sitting in a tin oven sweating like I’ve never sweated before! It wouldn’t have been so bad if I could have had the windows down, but with them down I couldn’t hear instructions over the walkie talkie so I had to have them up!

Talking about cars in the interview was so much more enjoyable than talking about design and I thought both Christina and i did really well in the interviews. Also really chuffed to see the boys use a Lumix GF1 for some of the on-board footage. I love my camera and had no idea if was good enough to shoot film for TV!

It’s all in their hands now. Bit nervous and hoping we don’t come across as idiots in the final product!
