Giant Expressway 2

Since Nanami’s confidence on the bike is down, she’ll just start with the seat height a little lower than usual.

Helmet fitting. As always, anything Nanami buys has to be either black, or white.

A few more dollars buys you a much better product. This POC helmet had a similar style to, but was way lighter than the skate helmets.

Fits in the boot folded, no worries!
Nanami’s owned a mountain bike for as long as I’ve known her. It’s never had a home in her city apartment. Wherever it moves to, it’s always in the way. She’s never once taken it out for a ride as far as I can remember, mainly because it’s too big and heavy to drag up the stairs (she lives on the top floor of her apartment building) and she’s just got not much confidence riding it either.
Quite a few months back she mentioned a folding bike and soon after that Nanami dragged me to a Japanese budget store to check one out. It had wheels the size of a plate, made out of steel and just nasty all round. We dropped in to Giant Sydney and we were both impressed with the folding bike on offer. The whole idea of getting a folding bike died off for a while until today where we went in to close the deal.
Good thing Giant Sydney had the new 2015 Giant Expressway 2 in stock. In comparison to the other rubish bike Nana was looking at a while back this bike has much bigger wheels, wider bars and it’s much easier to ride than the wobbly Strida folding bike I used to own.
Nanami’s happy. I’m happy. Whether she rides it or not she’s winning as getting rid of her old mountain bike will free up apartment space, and if she’s not using this bike it’ll fold up and hide in her wardrobe quite nicely!

Leo’s 1st B’Day

Jamie’s always serving up good food.

She outdid herself (again!) with this amazing cake for Leo.

Richie’s home brew for the daddies.

Hey Miles! He goes a bit quiet when there are a lot of kids around. Most likely worrying about his toys getting damaged… or stolen!

Cubby house served as a makeshift tattoo parlour for the day.

Birthday boy Leo playing a traditional game. He ended up going for a red egg which symbolised grandma (Mum!).

Manpuku
Was a hot day today, went for a dip at the rock pool with Kimmy and so I was ravenous when I jumped out (like some sort of primal instinct I’m always hungry after a swim!). Despite the heat we went for ramen at Manpuku as I’d been craving ramen for a while. Damn those wavy noodles and that broth, so complex, so good!

MKVR32 Update – HID’s
One of my HID’s died a few days ago. I run them on every time I drive, mainly for safety reasons. I wasn’t prepared for one of them to blow though (pretty sure the HID’s on my previous S2K would have lasted the lifetime of the car?!). My mechanic Dedy at TOP ONE (was great to drop by, had been a while!) said the OEM bulbs in VW Golfs burn out fast. He had MTEC bulbs ready to go so in they went (they cost me $250 a pair).

Photoshoot with Carmen
Had a great shoot with Filipina graphic design student, promo model and pageant Carmen Baena yesterday, who had only done 3 shoots before, was a little nervous, but heaps of fun (she’s super photogenic I think!). As usual, my direction was a little lacking but I feel that great conversation always makes up for this, and I’m still finding myself taking snaps between poses in order to find the most natural shots.
All the shots up on my folio now: http://www.justinfoxphoto.com/#/carmen/

2015 begins now

Another amazing Luca Ionescu piece for my walls!
In just the span of a few minutes I’ve received an amazing framed Like Minded Studio print in the mail from LYNX (looks like the LYNXPERX dealio I’m on is coming good!), managed to work on a deal for a new set of semi’s for my GT-R (finally!) and I’ve also been invited to an all expenses paid flight to QLD and test out some new rubber on WRX’s and VW Golfs at a race track next month.
Looks like my plans for starting the year off in February have just gone out the window!
Underwater case for the GF6

Check out all dem buttons on the back!

GF6 with kit lens + substantially larger underwater case on the right.

Camera in the case, it’s a tight fit!
I’ve been asked to do a maternity shoot. I was asked to take nudes of a very pregnant woman around 15 years ago, and refused back then because I wasn’t confident enough at the time, but I’m up for the challenge now.
I was thinking silhouetted (which is something I like to do anyways), black & white perhaps. I thought I’d ask for opinions and suggestions on Facebook and I had a friend (here’s looking at you Jenny!) suggest “underwater”!
I’m well aware of the various underwater cases available for popular cameras out there. I’m an eBay junkie and every time I’ve owned a camera I love those cases pop up in eBay searches. The case I ended up with says it’s waterproof to up to 40M, that’s way more than I need. It fits my GF6 with it’s 14-42mm kit lens, comes with a neck strap, wrist rope, spare O-ring gasket and water sealing grease you’re meant to use every time you seal the camera in the unit.
The kit lens isn’t my fave lens for the GF6, but I’m excited to give this a go. It’s pretty well built and every single button/function on the camera works too!

Another shoot with Cara
Had my second shoot with Cara yesterday, and whilst our first shoot was pretty hot, we got even hotter this time! Some of the shots were a little too hot to use in the end and that’s made me question a few things.
I’ve had quite a bit of time to assess and re-assess what I’ve been doing with photography lately. I’m still learning so much, and hungry to push myself further. My concerns about people questioning the validity or respectability of my new “hobby” is slowly but surely being put to rest and I’m starting to be more open to trying new things, be it a maternity shoot (on the cards in the next few months!) or erotic, which I think might be a tougher than I expect as I can’t say that I like the idea of people fapping over my images, so shooting erotic photography whilst still keeping it “classy” (need a better word for this, “real” perhaps?) will be a challenge.
Ultimately I’m trying my best to shoot and capture something beautiful with the person in front of me, with as little direction and post editing as possible. Who am I to tell my models what poses to do, or what to wear? I simply shoot what’s in front of me to my best ability and I’m starting to feel really comfortable with that.
You can view the full set here (warning though, as mentioned above, some of the images are a little racy!). Click: http://www.justinfoxphoto.com/#/cara-1/
