My task.


Hard yakka.

Some mates of mine have just launched a new business: Airtasker. The concept is pretty simple:

Airtasker is a community marketplace where people can outsource everyday tasks and errands to friendly and reliable people.

I decided to give it a go last week. Functionally, the site itself is crazy dynamic (not to mention it looks nice and friendly too). It’s one thing to be able to think of an idea for a site, but another to actually be able to go ahead and develop a custom solution to suit your needs and that’s exactly what these guys have done.

I put up a simple task to get someone to move a load of bricks out the front of Zen Garage (they were ugly!), to the back of the complex. Someone bid on the job in no time, and he was over, in the rain, to move the bricks pronto!

Smirnoff Start Pure Gallery

Nana’s work on the outside of the building.


Drippy tubes and bags filled with paints were all a part of the interactive art making concept.


Science lab styles, punters were encouraged to make their own piece to hang on the wall.

Both artists have drinks named after them, drinks are to be sold around Surry Hills bars over the next few months, pretty rad, right?


Artist Simon Lovelace owns Blank Space Gallery, he was in his man cave, tinkering with his bike… yeah! My kinda guy!

I managed to get invited to the media launch of the interactive Smirnoff Start Pure Gallery tonight. I’d checked it out earlier today as I was helping Nanami get her work to the gallery, but by launch time it was a completely different (rad!) set-up to what I’d seen earlier.

After 2 cocktails I was goneski’s so I hit the eject button before running the risk of not being able to drive home (Forum Battle tomorrow in Melbourne, road trip starts at 5am SHARP!).

The show officially launches tomorrow @ BLANK SPACE Gallery – Friday 2nd through to Thursday the 8th of March, 10am – 5pm 374 Crown Street, Surry Hills so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area!

Il Baretto

Christina went for the Duck Ragu. Fresh pappardelle was great.


I always test a new Italian restaurant with a bolognese, but this time I went fot the home made gnocchi instead of spaghetti (sauce was great, would have been better with spaghetti though for sure, next time!).


Semifreddo was almost too naughty for my tummy/

Christina and I caught up for dinner at Il Baretto – a lovely little Italian restaurant on Bourke St. Surry Hills. Pasta is fresh (yes!). I’ll be back!

JDMST EOMM FEB 2012

I skipped yesterday’s JDMST EOMM to go to the beach instead. Naughty to not turn up at my own meet… I know, but the sun was calling, big time and I couldn’t refuse ocean waves and sun hugs.

Luckily yesterday’s JDMST EOMM was captured in motion by the Mighty Car Mods guys. Marty and Moog from MCM have gained so much pace over the past few years. They’ve got a huge fan base (over 26,000 facebook fans). I’m hoping that someone will eventually sign these guys up for their very own show on prime time TV.

Octopus #1, she’s done
