Soul Food

Hot Wings with blue cheese dipping sauce.

NYC Chilli Dog.

Pulled Pork Sandwich.

All washed down with a Bud to keep the American theme going.

After watching MasterChef last night, where the contestants prepared a “soul food” meal in Harlem NYC, both Christina and I were craving something warm and hearty. We Googled for a bit and decided to try Blue Plate Bar & Grill in Neutral Bay. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and the food was indeed spicy and hearty. Not quite the Fried Chicken, Ribs and Black Eyed Peas we were after, but still great!

OMSC jam session at Waterloo Skate Park this morning. I stacked it more than anyone else. 7 times I think! My left shoulder feels a bit bung and my right shin’s lost some skin… rad!

Subframe Alignment @ Spinning Wheel Tyres

Low car and lip isn’t a problem when this ramp sits dead flush with the ground when down.

-2.5 camber in the rear means the wheels are tucking again. Looks weak, but no rub.

Ever since my last wheel alignment I’ve noticed that the drivers side rear rubs a lot more than the passenger side. I could visually see that the drivers side rear tyre was much loser to the guard than the passenger side rear. It’s bothered me a lot. I just assumed VW’s are built this way but when I was hanging out with Anthony (Carbon Lotus/R36 Twin Turbo Golf owner) the other day he told me that the rear subframe can be aligned, and that most if not all VW’s are out of alignment from factory.

His guys at Spinning Wheel Tyres had done his car, and a few other VW’s so I booked in and today I got my alignment done. Great guys, super quick, heaps of great advice regarding set-up too (I know many of the MX-5 guys use Spinning Wheel).

They think my car has been set up WAY too stiff. I agree but I can’t adjust the rears without dropping out the rear shocks (so so annoying). Will have to do at a later date. For now, straight rear sub frame and no more rubbing in the rear (I dialed the rear to -2.5 like my previous alignment with the CROSS coilovers).

Hanging out with Jordan

Bulmers with ice at the Argyl.

Tapas treats.

Jordan shooting AP’s R32 Golf.

The QSR bike was towed by this hummer with crazy huge wheels.

QSR bike.

Fat!

Jordan at work.

QSR’s Million Dollar Drag Car. There’s so much gold plating in the engine bay, you have to see it to believe it.

Jordan‘s about to leave to go back home to the states so we thought we’d hang out. He had a couple of shoots to do today. One was Anthony’s Golf R32 which has a twin turbo R36 engine swap, the other shoot was the Queen Street Racing Million Dollar Drag Car and matching bike.

No rest for the weary

Rengaya in North Sydney for Stevey’s B’day.

Charlie!

Wagyu, so over it, so fatty… the marbling looks really pretty but doesn’t it?

BBQ, always good :)

The B’day guy.

After getting off the plane I had time to get some photos up, then I was off to Steve’s 27th B’day dinner with the guys (and a few girls too!) at Rengaya in North Sydney. I was tired, but hey I confirmed I was in before the Melbourne trip and besides… I needed to eat in any case! I had a good catchup with my mate Chris and Charlie, always awesome. Food was not so awesome though. Great if you’re a wagyu fan but I’ve had it enough times to know I’m over the fattiness. Black Angus wins it for me, any day of the week!

Canibeat x JDMyard Meet

Whilst I was in Melbourne I missed one of my own car meets. Turns out that it was a huge one as everyone wanted to get their car snapped by Jordan (check a few posts back). Judging by the photos it looked like the sun was out, and as usual some crazy hot cars turned up too. Click here to check out the pics, many more to come from what I’ve heard as every man and his DSLR was in attendance!

INfront VR05 @ Melbourne – Day 2

Andrew, Christina and I rolled out of bed late and hit Atomica on Brunswick.

I had the El Gringo Eggs, what you can’t see buried under all that badass goodness was a huge smoked potato rosti, so so so good.

Spotted on Brunswick. About as cool as a postie bike can get.

We headed to my hotel for lunch with Jeremy as well as Toby and Pete.

Jeremy smashed (skulled!) 2 coffee’s in a row.

Jeremy’s electronic cigarette.

Lightning bolt straw. Many more beers than intended were consumed. Was just so nice up on the roof top, time flew by.

Psycho bike spotted on the way back to the apartments.

I’ve got a thing for macarons now, can’t resist them.

Later that night we checked out Naked For Satan.

The interior and graphic design is whack. Love it.

Loved their food concept too. An honesty based system where you just keep your toothpicks and pay $2/toothpick at the end of the night.

Despite the absolutely freezing cold, we had a great time in Melbourne. I’m crazy tired, and I feel very dehydrated from all the beer (and lack of water!), also bloated from all the fantastic food. No stopping though. Steve’s B’day dinner at Rengaya in 20 minutes, time to jet!
