Cheap thrills

New boss kit. Still waiting for the right steering wheel (will settle for a 350mm one which is smaller than the oem 370mm). In the meantime I’m using my Italvolanti wheel which has been a display in the house for a few years.

Yup it’s Takumi’s, it feels great but damn it’s ugly!

Also got some Spoon style power mirrors for kicks. I’ve been buying so much shit on eBay lately, must be Christmas fever.

Mirrors are on.

SBS Secrets and Lives

I’ve been working on an interface for design for a new documentary show on SBS called “Secrets and Lives”. It’s now live so I can finally talk about it!

PreviousNext hired me to be the head creative on the job, it was a super tight deadline but it was a lot of fun. The site’s a lot more interactive than most of the SBS sub-sites, each episode on TV is represented online with an interactive “webisode”.

You can check out the site here:

Hope you like it!

Pictures from today’s exhaust installation

Toilet stop.

Tips a nice day!

JDM YO!

OOH LA LA!

Out with the old!

The kit including remote controls to turn the volume on or off.

In with the new.

The exhaust sounds insane. It’s loud but not too loud. The sound is still definitely 100% R32 Golf but it’s a lot meaner at the same time. In soft mode it’s a little too soft but the option is a great one to have.

I pick Suga up from work later this afternoon. I’m sure she’ll be absolutely itching to hit the tunnels tonight!

Happy B’day Bikes Move Us

How quickly time has flown by! Bikes Move Us is 1 year old today with 928 members and growing strong.

I’ve recieved a bit of thanks for starting the forum here, but a forum is nothing without it’s contributing members. Every single rider I’ve met through the BMU forums is a champ. Here’s to many more years!

Autopia

In 2005 I did a logo design and web site for Autopia, an automotive leasing start-up company, Jeffrey was at the wheel and he was also into cars, he had a WRX if I remember correctly and I spotted a GT4 playstation set-up in his home office too.

A few weeks ago I saw a white BMW parked a few streets down from where I live, it turned my head as it had Autopia graphics all over it (I get excited when I see my work offline, in public spaces). I ran into the BMW again, this time on tight street. I blocked him and wound down my window and said “Hey Jeff!”. :) Turns out he’s living around the corner from me and he’s still crazy about cars as the above picture from the last Circuit Club day shows.

PS: His company is doing great, which is awesome news!

ED Civic gets a set of Axis OG-San wheels

Since I had no internet yesterday I thought I’d get some wheels fitted to the ED Civic. I had decided on the OG-San’s which I helped un-pack at JDMyard last week.

Spotted on the way to the tyre shop. Great name for a shop guys.

Spotted this rad car on the way to the tyre shop.

The ED, slammed low and ready for the new wheels.

15×8, my god they’re fat. Nervous… will they fit?

Oh yeah!

Got dish?!

195/45 tyres are sooo stretched to avoid rubbing issues.

I’d love for the car to be an inch lower but unfortunately the HKS coilovers are wound down as low as they’ll go.

Turns out the previous owner converted the rear drums to disc brakes, nice. I hadn’t even bother to look.

So needs a front lip now.

In other news Christina has been learning how to drive manual in the ED. We’ve found a great place to learn near Botany Bay, it’s quiet and it’s a bit of a circuit too with lots of giveways and stop signs. We’ve had 2 nights out there so far and she’s getting the hang of it quick smart, a few more weeks and she’ll be able to drive me home in a manual car when I get too drunk to drive! :p
