A sold out event, our own private cinema and we raised $5,000 for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation!

The vibe in the Hoyts foyer last night pre-show was awesome. 200 car guys, all here to watch Senna, all donating their money to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. Good times.

Once everyone was seated and prizes were raffled off, Narada showed a short Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation film which I’m sure touched everyone in the audience. If people weren’t sure that their $25 went to a good cause before, they sure knew it now.

Senna itself went down hard. It’s an emotional film and I’m sure it educated a lot of people about who the man was, how he thought and what racing was like in the 80’s.

WTAC is just around the corner, a monster event which sees the worlds fastest track cars fly downunder to clock the fastest time they can around Eastern Creek International Raceway. Even if you’re not into cars, the event’s worth checking out (there’s drift and show and shine events as well). Speaking of show and shine, a mate spotted my GT-R on the WTAC web site, looks like I’ll be expected to bring my GT-R out then?!

Low car and lip isn’t a problem when this ramp sits dead flush with the ground when down.

-2.5 camber in the rear means the wheels are tucking again. Looks weak, but no rub.

Ever since my last wheel alignment I’ve noticed that the drivers side rear rubs a lot more than the passenger side. I could visually see that the drivers side rear tyre was much loser to the guard than the passenger side rear. It’s bothered me a lot. I just assumed VW’s are built this way but when I was hanging out with Anthony (Carbon Lotus/R36 Twin Turbo Golf owner) the other day he told me that the rear subframe can be aligned, and that most if not all VW’s are out of alignment from factory.

His guys at Spinning Wheel Tyres had done his car, and a few other VW’s so I booked in and today I got my alignment done. Great guys, super quick, heaps of great advice regarding set-up too (I know many of the MX-5 guys use Spinning Wheel).

They think my car has been set up WAY too stiff. I agree but I can’t adjust the rears without dropping out the rear shocks (so so annoying). Will have to do at a later date. For now, straight rear sub frame and no more rubbing in the rear (I dialed the rear to -2.5 like my previous alignment with the CROSS coilovers).

Whilst I was in Melbourne I missed one of my own car meets. Turns out that it was a huge one as everyone wanted to get their car snapped by Jordan (check a few posts back). Judging by the photos it looked like the sun was out, and as usual some crazy hot cars turned up too.
