Rockpool Bar & Grill

The foyer, reminds me of Gotham City.

Ordering cocktails. We had a private room upstairs.

Gee.

Robbie.

Nat – Hello Kitty!

$56,000 wine!

B’day boy Jon and Kay.

More eating! Yesterday Suga and I had my Uncle’s B’day luncheon at Din Tai Fung (so good) and at 6PM we had dinner to celebrate Jon’s B’day at Neil Perry’s Rockpool (so so good). My billion day grain fed fillet was cooked to perfection, so so spoilt!

Ross’ R36 Wagon.

The Bavarian. There’s a pig in there, can you see it?

Table no. 32! Max Brenner’s for coffee.

Hooked up with the Golf guys and gals last night (yes, more beers, more food!). Great night as always, plenty of laughs and seeing (as well as hearing!) R32’s in convoy was awesome. More pics here

El Jannah’s

BMU guys drink Zero.

THE garlic sauce.

Charcoal Chicken.

Caught up with the BMU boys last night for dinner. It was Pho last time but last night we made the trek to El Jannah’s in Granville to try their charcoal chicken and legendary garlic sauce.

Got to say, not overly impressed with the chicken (thought it was a bit burnt and dry) but damn the garlic sauce is good! Super intense and very moreish. I was dipping all sorts of shit into it…gherkins, fries, pita bread, chicken, the lot and despite chewing 2 pieces of gum afterwards I was burping garlic all night (even woke myself up a few times in the middle of the night!). Epic!

Can’t…stop…eating…

Lobster tail with lobster sauce and trout mouse and garden picked flowers.

Wagyu, Ox Tongue and Lamb main.

Tony (Christina’s Dad) went all out last night with a degustation menu for Selina’s going home dinner (Christina’s cousin who lives and works in the UK). He’s definitely a master chef!

Great night, great conversations. It was especially nice to be able to talk to the older relo’s for a change (usually there are two tables, the “kiddies” table and the adults).

Papz’s Full Moon B’day Party

Vodka infused drink station + full moon buckets on the right.

Mr. Papz picking out some fresh herbs from his impressive herb garden.

The’erbs.

Mr Papz working the woodfire pizza oven.

The spit! Lamb on the left, pork on the right.

The feast!

Super hot today. Christina and I both took advantage of Papz’s pool.

The poolside DJ’s were busy scratch’n over chilled out summer beats.

Papz’s Pug.

Papz – B’day boy.

Charles & Anna.

Pakula.

Willy.

Hons.

The eating and drinking continued yesterday with a B’day bash at Papz’s place in Cecil Hills. Papz set a Thai style full moon festival theme complete with buckets for booze. His Dad’s a butcher and the feast served up was awesome. The pork and lamb on a spit did it for me big time (I’m craving it as I type!).

Christmas 2010

View from my Uncle’s place.

My sister + Mum.

Myself, Mum + brother-in-law Richie.

Simone + Maja.

Richie’s home brew is awesome. Reminds me of a Squire beer, great summer flavor.

Pressies!

For a moment, we’re all kids again. Opening pressies + saying thanks is always a highlight for us each year.

Of-course all the pets got gifts from our shop too :)

I went to mass last night with the Locks and saw what Tony had cooking for his family Christmas today. Eggs stuffed into a quail which is then stuffed into a chicken which is then stuffed into a duck which is then shoved into a massive turkey!!!I Got to admit I was tempted to drop in for the feast but I spent Christmas with my family instead this year and Christina spent it with hers (we usually get to both but this year we thought we’d just chill with our own families).

Booze, food, family, pressies and even some pong action thrown in for good measure. Merry Xmas all! :)

VWG BBQ

I freaked out for a second as I forgot to bring a bottle opener, but then I remembered that there’s one built into the centre console of the MKV Golf, haha, how awesome!

Little bit of dish on a Golf. Jayd’s new DPE wheels.

Mr Churrasco was on the BBQ.

MK1’s and 2’s MIA.

We had our last VWGolf.net.au meet for the year yesterday at Centennial Park. The rain held out which was awesome, company was great (as always!) and the food was awesome too.

Weekend wrap

I’ve been a bit out of it since losing my PC and physically out of it too since Suga and I had our 2nd training session with the Frenchman (he killed us again!). Here are some random happenings:

Christina and I have been craving Wagaya for ages, we killed 2 birds with one stone by organising a Wagaya dinner with Felix and Di who ran us through our MC schedule for their wedding next week (eek!).

Di and Felix – wedding next week yo!

Yesterday Christina and I had lunch at Marque. A friend of Christina’s Mum had to pull out of a booking. Bookings have to be made months in advance so we grabbed it without hesitation.

My angel.

$45 is a killer deal for a 3-course meal of this quality. Amazing technique, different flavours but we didn’t really like the menu this time around.

Not sure when, or how but my GTI was side swiped by a white car. Not happy at all. I’m hoping it’ll mostly buff out (I would have been furious if it was the GT-R!).

I spent a bit of time cleaning the back wall of the tank today, decided to remove the black background too (again).

Beer surprise

Thanks Byron!

Christina and I did a training session with Frenchie today (he’s a friend from the VWGolf Forums). He killed us both. We then dropped in to Jamie and Richies to re-shoot some Modern Pet products and on our return home we both ran for the fridge to find a 6-pack of my fave beer + this little note Byron left us. What a guy!!!

Friday daze

New Westfield Centrepoint.

I had 2 bad night sleeps in a row, way too much beer and smokes and the car show absolutely killed my legs (strange!) somehow I managed to (just) keep on rolling. Yesterday we planned to hit the beach but it was a crap day so Jess, Byron, Christina and I hit the city to check out the new Westfield Centrepoint.

Parts of the centre reminded me of some big Asian malls, maybe Hong Kong and Singapore. My mum ran a fashion business in Centrepoint for many years so as kids my sister and I practically grew up in the heart of the city. I didn’t at all recognise any of the old Centrepoint though, they’ve really gone all out on the new centre. It’s still dark like the old but each store front has it’s own concept (unlike the old centre having generic shop designs on the outside), some of the shop designs are pretty rad too.

New fixie shop at the Galleries Victoria.

Later that afternoon Christina and I hit the refurbished Strawberry Hills Hotel. I was feeling pretty tired until they served me this cool bottle of Asahi. Made in Japan unlike the made in Thailand Asahi everyone else seems to be stocking. Makes me so happy.

We then hit Jazushi, a small Japanese fusion restaurant in Surry Hills. We’ve walked past before and wondered if it was any good, turns out the food was awesome, we’ll definitely be back for more. We were there for Michael’s B’day, Michael and his partner Kerri run fashion label Amar. Really nice people and they’ve got some really interesting friends which made for a great night.
