House Auction

My sister’s about to pop a baby out any month now, she’s been wanting to move house for ages, but hasn’t had much luck finding the right place, and when she has found the right place it’s always gone for too much.

Last Saturday there was a house auction that she couldn’t get to as she had an important baby class she had to attend. Mum was going to bid for her so I thought I’d drop in and give Mum a little support. To cut a long story short (you had to be there!) she won the house, without having to go over the limit too.

Looks like my sister will be living within a stone throw from my place!

Coastal Walk

Walking for about 1km over these rocks at Lurline Bay at high tide made for some exciting moments.

Hun buns.

The path gets really swanky at Coogee, very nice planning.

This big rope mountain climby thing was still there, albeit less red than it used to be when I was in uni. Couldn’t help but climb to the top for old times sake.

We’ll have one of everything please.

The mains – very nice, entree’s were awesome too.

When we got home from our walk we spotted Mia Mau Mau in the window :)

I’ve not seen my bunny in a couple of days (been missing her!), we planned to hook up today as she’s got Friday’s off. Sun was out and she’s been itching to do some exercise so we made the most of the nice weather and decided to do the coastal walk from Maroubra Beach through to Coogee Beach.

We’ve tried it once before, it goes a bit funny after all the rock work, and the path forces you back onto the street, but this time we forged on and re-found the right track.

The walk was awesome, beautiful views along the way, really nice houses too (especially the concrete castle near Coogee!). We unfortunately undid all the hard work with a fancy lunch special at Ceviche. Entree, main and a glass of wine for $28, so much win!

Catchup with Stevey

Here’s a guy I used to have breakfast with every morning, when he had a mobile job fixing servers. He’s been owned now for some time though, and I very rarely get to hang out anymore so Stevey and I hooked up for dinner last night.

Plan was to smash a Chicken Jaeger at Una’s but in the end we decided to drop in to Kelly’s in Bondi for ribs (I always think I’m going to run into friends Alan and Carmen when I go to Bondi! hehe). Kelly’s were on fire, ribs were crazy juicy and we were served by Christina’s favorite waiter, Orlando Bloom, who’s cut his hair, and is now wearing glasses so he doesn’t quite look like Orlando Bloom anymore, but it’s still service with a smile! The guy is a champ!

I failed to finish a small serving (so much meat on the bone!) and Stevey failed to finish a regular. He’s a hurricanes man, but I think he enjoyed the ribs at Kelly’s. I bet any money he’ll call me up in a month or so with a craving for ribs at Kelly’s.

Check the space

Carpark outside is off the main road, quite private and can fit 100 cars or so.

The front of the warehouse, gotta love that old skool brick!

Looking in, what a blank canvas. There’s a garage door at the back too (2 street frontage).

Looking back to the front.

Upstairs office space.

So yesterday I hooked up with the g2s guys to check out “the space”. I’m in love, really. Retail space, office space, community space, gallery space… I’m in, let’s do this!

Circuit Club Wakefield Park Queens B’day

Magic gold arm band.

Burnt paint from tyres getting crazy hot and scrubbing the guards (pic from last time when I also had -2 on different tyres).

Track damage is dead sexy (not my car!). Check the chunk taken out of the tyre too.

The Advan guys were representing and launching the Neova Cup Challenge (I did the logo design for it a while back).

A few weeks ago I committed to going to the next Circuit Club track day at Wakefield Park on the Queen’s B’day. I thought I had plenty of time to get my set-up right but as you might have read over the past few blog entries, it’s been a tight squeeze as things have gone wrong. Despite still having issues (the rear wheels are scrubbing on both sides), as well as the horrible weather today I decided to go.

I left late at about 9.30AM (most guys were meeting up at 5-6AM to get there at 8AM but that just ain’t my kinda style!) and it was non-stop rain all the way to Goulburn. I thought about turning around half way as there’s really not much point to tracking a front wheel drive car in the rain, but I forged on and when I got there the “dry line” that a few guys had earlier in the day was gone, and it was raining and miserably cold.

Narada and the boys hooked me up with a gold armband though, that special arm band let me go in any class on the day (A, being fastest and D being the slowest) at any time. I ended up doing only 2 sessions, one in with D, and one with the boys in B.

The first session out was wet, and the GTI surprisingly oversteery! I think the -2 degrees camber in the rear has made the car more fun, shame that has to change though as it scrubs really bad back there.

2nd session out I had Rob in the car, and I was surprised at how quick the GTI is. I could easily overtake an S2000, RX8, WRX and even an Exige on the straight.

I wasn’t at all going for a time though as the track was slippery and I was paranoid about damaging the rear guards any more than I already have.

Traffic on the way home was bonkers too. 60km/hr all the way from Picton to the M5 tunnel! I stopped off at McDonalds, chuffed down a Big Mac meal and now I’m home. Ultimately, despite all the dramas… I still had fun!

PS: Note to self: Book in a wheel alignment to push the rears out to -2.5 and see how that goes before going for -3.
