Happy B’day Jing!

The boys (lol @ Matt Mead – KKK!) – instagram shot by Jing.

Happy B’day boy. Ladies take note – Jing’s wonderful wife Shirley let’s him put his bikes in their lounge room, yes she does. :) – instagram shot by Shirley.

Wasn’t exactly Jing’s B’day as his B’day is 10 days away from today. Chinese B’day maybe? Or pre-Valentines Day? In any case the BMU guys got together and hit the Karts, we then (only just) pulled off a surprise party by all being there to spook him as he got out of the shower at his new apartment. Together we bought him a new Next Level Racing GT5 set-up. You’d think we had enough driving with the Karts?!

It was good whilst it lasted

School kids pose!

Dan’s fresh new Tatt (he has quite the collection!).

Atsuko, Nanami’s faithful sidekick. :)

I got to briefly meet Dan, who runs Kind of Gallery a few weeks ago at the Upside Down Type show. Last Saturday night I got to hang out with the guy. Not only does he run a gallery, he’s a skater and rider too so we had a lot in common. At the show he mentioned that they were going to get kicked out of their Oxford St. premises. That was the topic of the night, it’s all sad news and I wish them all the best with finding another venue.

Their final group show will be on this Wednesday night. It’s going to be a huge one. Check the Kind of Gallery site for more info.

Saturday @ Zen Garage

BBQ was so tasty!

Some of the boys there earlier in the day (have more shots, will upload soon!).

People have been screaming for us to open on Saturdays, makes sense as most people work weekdays. Today we opened up, had a BBQ and hey, the sun even came out to play. Met a few new people, sold lots of gear but I’m totally hating the new point of sale system we’ve installed (it’s going to take a LOT of work next week to make it synch up with our online shop).

Not sure how I feel about working weekends yet but I’m pretty sure we’ve got to open. Maybe a roster of some sort. Saturday on, one day of the week off. We’ll see!

The Chemical Brothers – Don’t Think

V8 YO!

Sean treated me to a showing of The Chemical Brothers – Don’t Think last night at Event Cinemas in the city. I’m a HUGE Chemical Brothers fan (they got me into electronic music after metal… and chemical abuse too naturally) so I was pretty hyped up about the event, especially after reading a little about it (tried not to, but couldn’t help myself). Shot in Japan with an aim to capture the audience go through highs of their set AND captured in Dolby 7.1… it all sounded like a HUGE prick tease (what are we meant to do in a cinema? Get up and dance?!)

Dance, people did, but just 5 minutes in Sean and I knew something was drastically wrong. Whilst the audience were screaming to turn it up, the volume wasn’t the problem… the problem was there was NO BASS. I mean, seriously, no bass. NO BASS! No feeling! Sean ran out to complain a few times, eventually the cinema manager came in and agreed the sound was wrong but there was nothing she could do about it.

Sigh. What a waste… :(

Zen Garage Gallery Opening

Flyer Design – Photograph by Easton Chang.

We’re officially opening the Zen Garage Art Gallery next Thursday night. The first show is a group show featuring the work of JDMST Photographers. Our mission is to elevate the perception of Automotive Photography. It’s common for art photographers to have gallery nights yet Automotive Photographers aren’t privy to shows, instead getting their work into magazines seems to be the pinnacle.

So car photography, as art + red wine and beers. I’m hoping it’s going to go down a treat! :)
