The Bridge Room

Prawns were the entrée special of the day. So tasty.

Scallops with buttered corn.

The sirloin was the main of the day. Cooking shows harp on about ‘balance of flavour’, after eating this dish I now know what it’s all about!

Slow grilled lamb.

Light and refreshing dessert suited the hot weather today.

Christina and I had a boozy Friday lunch at The Bridge Room in the city today, a new restaurant from the owners of Quay and Otto Ristorante. Service and food was amazing. We were the only people in there not wearing business suits! A real corporate atmosphere at lunch time, would definitely love to try the other things on their menu, but perhaps a dinner next time.

Hangin Tough in Cabra

In the heart of Cabra.

Unfortunately Sydney’s Best Pho restaurant was shut last night, but we were in Pho Land and Mark chose this second option in a jiffy.

Pho was great, as expected!

Mark’s turbo taxi. As lazy and comfy as you like, but floor it and it’s an absolute weapon!

Last night I caught up with Mark Pakula, who picked me up in his turbo taxi and drove me out to Cabramatta in south-western Sydney for some authentic Pho. I’ve never set foot in Cabra before so it was a treat, great Pho, clean and tasty, great catch-up too.

Deus Cafe

Dropped in to Deus for some inspiration for Zen Garage warehouse space.

Love the simple steel coping + end caps they’re using for everything in the shop.

The entire change room was made with the same coping + end caps.

Rob suggested the Steak Sandwich. It was damn good.

VWGolf.net.au Wagaya Dinner Meet

Shoes off! We got the private room.

TV in the room = win. Ray brought along mind-blowingly inspirational Wörthersee DVD’s.

Group shot.

Imported Asahi from Japan, awesome.

Best Motoring International hatback shootout featuring MKV Golf GTI DSG vs. Manual.

Keiichi Tsuchiya providing great entertainment (he was convinced the DSG was great after he lost to it in the manual!).

Wagaya – ALWAYS awesome. :)

Angelo’s Portugalia

Angelo’s Portugalia in Kensington.

Last TRuesday night Stevey and I hit Angelo’s Portugalia for some authentic Portuguese food. Tight-ass Tuesdays too so food was half the price. Service was shocking, felt so sorry for the 2 friendly floor staff who struggled to attend to everyone but the chicken literally melts in your mouth, it’s so damn good. Portuguese wine was nice too.

Excuse the lack of updates, not been lazy, been in the matrix working my ass off on the Zen Garage online store!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. Yesterday Christina and I put together this little hamper of weird and wonderful cooking ingredients for Mr. Lock. Hope he enjoys it!

Hanging out at JDMyard

The boys.

Sergio, always cracking people up!

Sergio grinding shit out. Anton his assistant looking on.

All done.

Yonas’ EG sporting new aero.

Spoon cluster. The Honda boys love rare discontinued stuff, and the JDMyard guys always have something special in stock.

Full slicks, everyone’s going hardcore.

Garlic Sauce again!

The house really needed some cleaning up. I managed to do a good job cleaning both toilets but the sun was out and instead of feeling sorry for myself I thought I’d drive out to JDMyard to hang out with the boys.

Sergio and crew were there to sort out a rubbing issue on his Evo. Sergio’s always good value, he still makes me laugh (I hired him 4 years ago to work with Zi and I at Buddy Club).

Yonas finished up work at 3, starving we smashed some charcoal chicken with garlic sauce (again!) at Habibs in Bankstown. I’ve been garlic burping all night! So good (haha).

Wheel Alignment @ Spinning Wheel

SUGA @ Spinning Wheel Tyres for a wheel alignment.

My mate Dave teed up alignment for his EG Civic just before us, unfortunately Stuart noticed a problem with the rear bushes so Dave opted to postpone the alignment until he sorts out some new bits.

Spinning Wheel is right around the corner from Danks St. so while Stuart was working on SUGA we dropped in to Fratelli Fresh for a feed.

Food was great as usual. Beer was crispy & refreshing.

Muum Maam

Muum Maam rolls – pork, tofu, bean sprouts, shitake and cucumber.

Cripsy Egg Noodles – Northern style noodles with slow braised red beef curry.

Suga and I grabbed a quick dinner at Muum Maam tonight. Holt Street in Surry Hills is now lined with new restaurants, all sporting similar designed signs outside. Inside there was a large share table which reminded me a lot of Sailors Thai at The Rocks, but since we were early (it was pretty empty) we got our own little 2 seater table.

We only ordered 2 dishes as we were in a bit of a rush to get to a show, the rolls for entree and the crispy noodles as a main, but both were great, the noodles especially yummy (very tender beef curry was underneath the noodles and the dish also came with a plate of extra condiments. Very nice! Will definitely be back for more!
